SFS 13 special guest: Dagmar Kestner
Dagmar took inspiration from traditional folkloristic garments from her birthplace Romania and the artisanal context they are produced in. This can be seen in the use of material, choice of technique, as well as the design of the garments.
This collection also may shows, that historic crafts or the common use of the material leather can still be explored in original and contemporary ways. Picking up on traditional approaches and combining loose ends in unusual ways created new solutions that go beyond previous references.
Into Smithereens is a series of eight sculptural womenswear silhouettes, focussing on a personal enhancement of the decorative craft of „Macramé” in combination with soft leather qualities.
I wanted to fully grasp the properties of both of those elements and challenge their common, mostly two-dimensional use. In doing so, daring shapes and hybrid-solutions in between pattern cutting and three-dimensional knotting emerged. The silhouettes and shapes are formed by the interplay of movement in between body and dress, creating architectural shapes and almost topographical heights& depths. The incorporated, spatial constructions offer features for suspending and merging arms and hair into the garments, allowing body and garment to intertwine. All garments are carefully crafted, each leather band cut separately and every knot hand-tied. The final voluminously bold appearance and weight, stands in a fascinating contrast to the dozens of fine, detailed knots each piece is built of.
Lucie Králová and "Ztraceno v překladu" - "Lost in Translation"
Lucie was inspired by the sculptural work of Olbram Zoubek. His sculptures with soul, his conception of vertical characters and mainly his Antika′s influenced work with structured materials and typical colors all effected Lucie′s collection.
Folds and layers are central motifs intersecting the whole works. The aim was to create a collection in which a major role is played by figure or sculpture, which in the models alternately stands out or is getting lost, but still plays the most important role.
Lucie Králová is a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava and the Technical University in Liberec. During her studies she participated in a series of workshops in the Czech Republic and abroad. Her collections were presented among others at Prague Fashion Weekend 2012, Styl and Kabo fairs in Brno and in the symposium of Fashion Arts Foundation in San Francisco. In 2009 she became a co-author of KRAKORA brand.
Miroslava Horká and Štěpán Růžička with ŽÍT TEBOU collection
Mirka and Štěpán cooparated on one of the most successful collections of Mirka in the past but as a creative duo they will present themselves for the first time. For SFS 2013 they jointly prepared a new project called Žít tebou - Living you.
