Photographer: Berniece Tahmindjis Retoucher: Tee Anderson Writer: Amberlyn Wemmer For the past few decades, BCBG Maxaria has held a sophisticated and artistic image combining a European aesthetic with an American touch. The Los Angeles brand's theme of Bon Chic Bon Genre or " good style, good vibe" upholds a French influence for the modern woman that is not only business and workplace inspired but also able to dress up. The Spring 2013 collection recreates the predictable BCBG simple assymetrical designs dresses and suits. The simplicity of the collection and color palette has a West coast vibe with pieces that can be dressed up and down empowering a feminine and sexy woman out on the town or in the work office.

Photographer: Berniece Tahmindjis Retoucher: Tee Anderson Fashion Writer:Amberlyn Wemmer Carmen Marco Valvo is a man of many talents in his ability to create several collections that have become well known in the fashion world. His artistic backround helpedhim to createrefined cocktail dresses, evening gowns, sunglasses, and swimwear. Volvo's Spring 2014 collection brings a futuristic yet chic, high end beach vibe. The black and white patterns along with mesh and fabric choice brings a symmetrical balance that is comfortable to the eye. Valvo attempts to create the image of the "futuristic beach chick" with dresses and swimsuits wetsuit inspired enhancing the female figure. However, the most striking and talked about part of the show was the two toned ombre wigs with blunt bangs to reiterate the futuristic and edgy mood. Rather than using a romantic hairstyle, colors, and fabrics, Valvo takes quite a risk in this collection with a darker and edgy trip to the beach.

Carolina Herrera 2013: Spring Collection 2014 Photographer: Berniece Tahmindjis Retoucher: Jennifer One Fashion Writer: Amberlyn Wemmer As "Fashion's First Lady", Carolina Herrera as become a fashion figure of class with a modern touch. Herrera's Spring 2014 displayed a sophistication with pieces that were ready to walk off the runway to the red carpet. The show seemed to be one big optical illusion with eye popping prints that were bold and dizzy. Karlie Kloss opened the show with a hypnotizing striped skirt and white shirt that announced Herrera's movement of kinetic art in each outfit. Her use of translucent layered fabrics gave a sense of depth and movement within the clothing; however, the collection felt more fall with her use of color and designs. Even though prints were bold and abstract, the fabric still displayed a softness to show Herrera's signature elegance and sophistication.

Custo Barcelona's colored and psychedelic vibe hit the runway to display a refined Spring 2014 collection with sophisticated prints and embroideries from swimsuits to coats. The happy feminine colors popped on the runway against the simple sheer tops with occasional overcoats with tribal patterns and fringe. Although this collection seemed a bit toned down from previous pieces, the refined version worked much better with patterns that were bright, bold, and fun but still sophisticated.

Falguni and Shane Peacock 2013: Spring Collection 2014 Photographer: Dobrin Marchev Retoucher: Jennifer One Fashion Writer: Amberlyn Wemmer Ultra-feminine bionic women took over the tent during Falguni and Shane Peacock's runway show this fashion week. Always in a different ballgame, the husband and wife duo love to bring drama to their designs contrasting different motifs mixing reality and fantasy. The dramatic Spring 2014 collection juxtaposed mesh, florals, plaid, and even metal leg harnesses to give a luxurious edge. The metallic detail added a futuristic vibe, which was enhanced with the dark lips and white bobbed hair. Some favorites included the matching skirt and crop top and quilted dresses that gave an image of strength in a punk and futuristic design. This runway of men's outerwear had all the ladies with jaws open watching handsome men in parkas, utility jackets, light pull-overs, sailing jackets, swim trunks, and sweaters with accessories creating an effortless style and a confident American man. It was quite an ambitious show to showcase 50 looks of assorted fabrics such as nylon, leather, and terry cloth that really pushed refined masculinity. The contrast of neutral along with bright colors highlighted the blocking and asymmetrical detail that was casual but crisp. Despite being somewhat repetitive, the audience still seemed to enjoy gawking over not only rigid masculity but also well constructed clothes that are functional and ready for an adventure.
